Kelly Rowland’s Dirty Laundry

kelly 2

Kelly Rowland has been everywhere in the last year or so. Hot off the heels of Here I Am, the CD that featured “Motivation”, her most successful single to date, she is back with a new CD, Talk A Good Game. The CD won’t be in stores until June 18th, but she is doing plenty to gear herself up for a high debut on the Billboard charts when it’s finally released. From her successful “Ice” single with Lil Wayne. to the extremely addictive Kisses Down Low and now she’s ready to air some of her “Dirty Laundry”. With “Ice”, I was initially skeptical of the song and wrote it off as an attempt to capture the thunder that was made with “Motivation”. Although “Motivation” is better in my opinion, I must say that “Ice” is a great listen as well. And “Kisses Down Low” is quite arguably the best R & B single to be released by a female artist in recent months. That song and the video are hot and I hope she gets some great success on that one.

Just last week, she teased fans with a 51 second clip of her new single, “Dirty Laundry” which was produced by her boyfriend The Dream. The single will officially be released on iTunes on May 21st. With his track record on hits like Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”, it will be interesting to see what he comes up with for the former Destiny’s Child beauty. Who knows if that pairing is just a strategic partnership, but whatever the case, the couple is milking it for all it’s worth. They recently announced their upcoming Lights Out Tour. It’s right on time for both artists as The Dream is also gearing up for his latest CD, IV Play, set for release on. May 28th. IV Play will also feature a duet with Kelly on the song “Where Have You Been”. With the exception of his first two albums, I think The Dream is much better suited as a songwriter and producer for other artists, rather than being the artist himself. But I’m still curious to hear how his new CD will sound.

It’s no secret that Kelly has also turned up the sex-o-meter on her image lately and looks a lot more voluptuous than she did in her hey day with Destiny’s Child. Hmmm… but possible augmentations aside, there’s no denying that her album artwork for the new CD and slick music video production signals that she’s probably not yearning for a Destiny’s Child reunion any time soon. Plus she looks better than ever. Will you be buying Talk A Good Game when it hits stores on June 18th?

***UPDATE!!!!*** Just heard “Dirty Laundry” and it’s beyond transparent….Kelly opens up about her secret abusive relationship and turning on Beyonce. Check it out!

The Great Gatsby

thegreatgatsby

Not only is The Great Gatsby one of the most anticipated films of the year, its soundtrack is sure to be highly sought after as well. Jay Z serves as the soundtrack’s execute producer and there’s literally a little bit of everyone on it. The movie is directed by Baz Luhrmann, who also directed the hugely successful Moulin Rouge film. That filmed also boasted an all star line up for its soundtrack, primarily highlighted by the Grammy Award winning “Lady Marmalade”  remake with Pink, Mya, Lil Kim, and Christina Aguilara. Emeli Sande (who remakes Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love”), Jay Z, will.i.am, Coco O, Jack White, Beyonce, Andre 3000 and Del Rey are all featured on the Gatsby soundtrack.

The soundtrack’s apparent first single digs in the crates to unite some artists that we haven’t heard from in a while. The Black Eyed Peas’ lead singer Fergie, Q-Tip and GoonRock team up on the playful and energetic “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)”. This song sounds like it could possibly be a recycled Black Eyed Peas song, but it’s catchy nonetheless. There’s more Fergie here than anything (and rightfully so since it’s technically her song) and I can’t help but wonder will this be the kickoff for a new solo album from her or maybe a new Black Eyed Peas CD.

What do you think of the song? Also, check out the soundtrack sampler below. Will you pick it up when it hits stores on May 7th?

Hugh Gets Jacked Up

Wolverine

It’s not every day that you get to meet your favorite celebrity crush. I say I would play it cool, but who knows what would happen if I met Sanaa Lathan, Jada Pinkett Smith or Soledad O’Brien, lol. Well one woman just couldn’t keep her composure when she met the love of her life, Hugh Jackman. Wolverine (Jackman) himself was working out at Gotham Gym in West Village, minding his own business like any other normal human would be. In comes 47-year-old Kathleen Thurston, who bursts into the gym and goes straight for Hugh Jackman. But it’s what she did after that makes this encounter extremely bizarre. She walked in crying and sobbing uncontrollably as a decoy to get to her celebrity crush. Long story short, after she realized she wouldn’t get her way with Hugh Jackman, she reached into her waistband, and pulled out a used razor. But not just any used razor….this one was filled with her pubic hairs! WTH?! SMH…

As soon as Kathleen made it past the Gotham trainers she headed straight towards Hugh Jackman. While she was literally being pulled out of the gym, she screamed repeatedly, “I love you!” Well we definitely know who will be first in line for the next X-Men movie. Jackman thought she was digging into her pants for a weapon as she was being pulled away. But no, just a used electric razor that she furiously flung at him. And this is really supposed to get her an autograph, right? The woman actually escaped from a mental illness shelter, but I’m sure it gave the Wolverine actor quite a scare. But she’s probably a familiar face at this point. She also was once found near his home spying on him and his actress wife, Deborra Lee Furness. Surprisingly calm about the situation, he simply stated, “Here’s a woman who obviously needs help so I just hope she gets the help she needs,” he told 1010 WINS’ Carol D’Auria. “I suppose for me, the primary concern is my family, obviously.”

Is there any celebrity that you would even go a fraction of these extremes with? Hopefully no one would do anything close to what Kathleen Thurston did.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done to get the attention of a crush or someone you like?

Mr. & Mrs. Carter

Mrs. Carter 2

We’ll start with ladies first. Mrs. Carter, better known as Beyonce, has taken the media by storm in the last few months. From her HBO documentary, to her $50 Pepsi contract (including a rousing Super Bowl performance), and her new Mrs. Carter world tour, to say that she’s been a busy woman would be an understatement. Perhaps this is all just a set up to get fans ready for her new album. And if it is, it’s definitely working as she has been in the headline news almost every week. Most recently she has released snippets of several new songs, “Bow Down”, “I Been On” and “Grown Woman”. The first 2 tracks I am not really fond of at all lyrically. The production is decent, but I really don’t want to hear a whole song of Beyonce telling her female peers to “bow down b&tches”. That song should have never been released in my opinion….but, I digress. But somebody out there is loving it and her just maybe several dates of her Mrs. Carter tour selling out in just minutes could help fuel this cocky diva’s fire. However, she has seemed to redeem herself as “Grown Woman” produced by Timbaland, and featured in her new Pepsi ad, is rumored to be the lead single from her new CD. Does she really deserve to have everyone “bow down” to her? I’m definitely interested to see if her new CD will follow this direction or not. Check out the clip of her new commercial and “Grown Woman” snippet below. One thing’s for sure: her business sense is truly like no other.

US-VOTE-2012-DEMOCRATIC CAMPAIGN-OBAMA

Then there’s Mr. Sean Carter, better known as Jay Z. He’s a rap juggernaut that every main stream rapper today wants to grow up to be. Plus, he’s not just a rapper, he’s a self-made empire. Never one to mince words, he has always spoken his mind in his music and interviews. But he does it with such a cool swagger that you just might miss the message he’s conveying if you’re not paying close attention. As he gears up for his co headlining tour with Justin Timberlake, he has somehow found the time to still record new music. But his latest song didn’t follow the same creative process as much of his previous music. In response to the recent flack him and Beyonce have caught in reference to their Cuba trip. In case you haven’t heard, the couple traveled there for their 5th wedding anniversary, although travel to Cuba for tourism is prohibited under U.S. law. But of course, the couple had permission to be there. After all, they are The Carters. Where his wife chooses to blatantly attack her opponents, Jay Z forcefully tells them to bow down without technically ever saying so. Check out his new track, “Open Letter” that was just released last Monday in response to those questioning his motives for travel to Cuba and his take on government policies. Just as a warning, this song does have explicit lyrics. The song was produced by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland.
