Ok, so the Presidential debate is tonight and there will be plenty to discuss. But first, check out the commentary TLady75 (Tammie Henry) and I did about some of the recent political debates, new policies and shocking moments. Everything from Obama vs. Romney on 60 Minutes to Madonna stripping for President Obama and dumbfounded parents over the new Plan B in New York school districts. Definitely a WTH of sorts. It’s not politics…it’s politicked!!
“Obama is 666….He’s just Satan”. Can you guess if this is a personal opinion of mine or not? Wait, what about this quote? “Someone needs to assassinate Obama…like ASAP #DieYouPieceOfSh&t”. Hopefully by now you now that I didn’t say either of these quotes. Chances are you may have heard the latter one, as it was tweeted by Ohio teen Alyssa Douglas. After many retweets with comments of followers wondering what the heck with her, she may actually be facing jail time. I can’t say that I’m happy to hear this, but I also don’t understand what would make people say such cruel things either. Now, let’s get back to the first quote. This one hit a little closer to home. I was sitting at the chiropractor’s office, as one of the patients went on a 15 minute rant including the quote mentioned above and many other comments I’d rather not repeat. And what’s worse is one of the employees was agreeing with her…SMH.
Is this about politics? No. Did I write this blog for a debate against Obama vs. Romney? No. Most people who know me know that I’m not even heavily involved in politics. I do have my stance on certain issues and yes I will be voting. But I don’t waste time arguing with people or shoving my views down their throat. What I don’t understand about people in general is why they feel the need to share their opinions with their world. People don’t want to hear everything we have to say, let alone the things we should keep at home. Believe me, I have nearly hated several people in my life time (not proud of it), but if I did hate somebody, I would not make that knowledge to the general public. And furthermore, how can you have that much hatred in your heart towards someone you technically don’t even know? In my opinion, if you’re capable of hating a public figure, entertainer, or stranger, than you’re capable of hating me more. And that’s someone I would want to have no dealings with.
I must admit, it took a lot for me to sit there and hold my tongue at the chiropractor’s office this week when I heard all of those nasty comments about President Obama. I wanted to just tell them to the shut their mouths, and not exactly in those words. Now go and tweet that, lol. But in all seriousness, we should all watch the things that we say in public about other people, especially when it’s something negative. And on top of that, it’s one thing to say dirty and treacherous things about people, but it’s another thing when we listen and entertain it. As I’m writing this, I’m getting heated all over again, but this is just a quick reminder that we should all (including me) watch what we say, how we say it, and who we say it to.

This is the fifth annual Go Topless holiday and it just so happens to fall on Women’s Equality Day this year. The rally will take place right outside the White House in Washington, DC. Participants are able to go fully topless, partially topless or fully clothed. Although it is legal to go topless in New York City, you may want to check for your city’s guidelines before the tops come off. Check out the original post (posted on August 1, 2012, below).***
Vote Topless!
There’s been a lot going in New York City. First Mayor Bloomberg was trying to ban sodas larger than 16 ounces and now the tops are coming all the way off….
You may have heard of the Canadian rock band Barenaked Ladies. But Moira Johnston is putting a new spin on the term. She’s a 29-year-old Philadelphia native and a stripper that lives in New York City. But wait, don’t turn your nose up at her just yet. After all, no one should be surprised to hear of a woman using music and a pole as part of her workplace atmosphere in this day and age. But to top it off, or rather take the top off of it, Moira Johnston walks around New York City in the daytime topless! Is she doing this to drum up additional clientele at night?!?! If so, let’s be real….who would really pay to see her at night when you can see almost all of what you want for free during the day? But no. This is not her intent. This bare naked lady is doing it all for a good cause. And her first time going topless was during a yoga class in January. She hasn’t looked back or kept clothes on since….LOL. WTH?!
Moira says she’s doing this for a little payback so to speak. She is tired of women being subjected to sexism. Since men can walk around with their shirts off, why can’t she? Although she’s not the first to walk around in public naked (Erykah Badu also did a similar expression of art in Dallas, TX for her “Window Seat” music video), she has definitely helped gain major momentum for her cause. On August 26, women in 22 cities around the world will be participating in Go Topless Day (something Johnston will surely be participating in). Go Topless Day is a gathering of women standing up for equality with their tops off and the twist is that men can attend too. But they have to wear bras and bikini tops. It’s a role reversal of sorts so men can see how women are constantly being objectified in the media for sex.
I’m all for equality and I see Ms. Johnston’s point about women being treated right. But how seriously will people take this protest from a stripper? And again, doesn’t this topless protest cut into her nightly income? Why throw money to the performer when you can see the show for free? She was actually arrested by the police, but was “somehow” free to go after not being held long. Perhaps Moira Johnston felt that this was ok because it’s technically legal to go topless in New York. But even though it’s legal, does it make it right?
I originally had one topic to write about, then it turned into 2 and finally 3 to choose from. So here it is…3 dimensions and 3 stories that will leaving you saying, “WTH?” What do you think of these situations?
Mayor Stubbs for President?
I’m still laughing at this, but in case you haven’t heard, Mayor Stubbs is celebrating his 15th year serving as Mayor for the city of Talkeetna, Alaska (which is actually a historical district). He’s the people’s champ and everyone in the 900 count populated city loves him. But Stubbs isn’t just any ole mayor….he’s a cat. Yep, that’s right. Stubbs was voted in 15 years ago after the city rejected all of the human candidates on the ballot. WTH? A cat for mayor…I’m sure they do love him. He doesn’t talk back or cost the city any money. And if he does have a salary, I’ll gladly be his manager. Resident, Laurie Stec told CNN, “He doesn’t raise our taxes – we have no sales tax. He doesn’t interfere with business..” Right….I’m sure he doesn’t. And get this, Mayor Stubbs won’t be caught drinking his milk or water out of a food pale. Nope, he drinks straight out of a wine glass. If only life were this sweet 24/7 for the rest of the world…
You’ve Just Been Served…Child Support
A Tennessee woman named Torry Hansen sent her 7-year-old son, Artyom Saveliev on a plane to Moscow by himself. You may be wondering why she sent her son on a plane by himself at such a young age. Was it to see a family member? School trip? Or crazy accident? No, Torry had plans to get rid of her Russian adopted son. She claims that his behavior was out of control. He hit, screamed and spat at her on several occasions. I hate to hear people have been spat on. That’s one of the worst forms of disrespect to me. But I digress….it gets worse. Artyom also threatened to kill her and the Hansen family…and burn the house down. If this isn’t children of the corn, I don’t know what is. But to top it all off, Torry Hansen was just ordered to pay $150,000 in child support (reported on Monday). Apparently, she missed several court appearances which played a large part in her having to pay child support. Do you think she should have to pay or not?
On Pins and Needles
Stephen Stein, a Colorado oral surgeon, is probably on pins and needles right now. It’s one thing to catch diseases like HIV, Hepatitis B or C by your own actions, but what happens when it was absolutely due to no fault of your own? Over a 10 year span, Stephen Stein could have potentially infecting over 8,000 people to these diseases. He was misusing syringes, which could easily spread various kinds of diseases. Many of the patients are being tested now. The department of health has had this information since April, but it is just now reaching the public. The department of regulatory agencies put a stop to his practice even before this information was found out. Thankfully, there have been no confirmed cases of diseases from his patients. WTH?! All he had to do was use clean needles! Just a basic requirement that has been ignored…
