Author: 7th Sign

I'm an author who has written four poetry books, Blurred Vision, Hindsight 20/20, Honesty Box and most recently, Stingrays. I released my first novel, Fortune Cookie, in 2015 and I'm finalizing the follow up, called No Cream In The Middle, for a July 2017 release. I enjoy helping other writers reach their goals, which inspired me to launch my own publishing company, 7th Sign Publishing.

Brandy: Singer Verzuz Baby Mama

Eight long years have passed since Brandy released her last studio album, Two Eleven. Although she has released a couple of singles here and there as an independent artist (“Beggin & Pleadin” and “Freedom Rings”), she has been tight-lipped about any signs of a new studio LP….until now. With a career that spans 25 years […]

10,000 More Steps To….

I don’t think anyone could have predicted we’d be where we are now in 2020. Aside from a few inevitable road bumps along the way, I thought everything would be bigger, bolder, and more profitable. Sometimes the answers to our most fervent prayers come in the most unusual packages. Today, I finished up my new […]

4 Songs That Should Have Been Singles from E=MC2

Mariah Carey/Mimi/The Elusive Chanteuse has done it again. She recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of her record-breaking Emancipation of Mimi comeback album. However, the 12th anniversary of its follow up, E=MC2 is making headlines now. The album, which still marks her highest opening sales week for any of her albums to date – 463,000 copies […]

Kelly Rowland Serves Up a Hot Cup of ‘Coffee’

Teasers for Kelly Rowland’s new single, “Coffee”, have been all over social media lately. The former Destiny’s Child founding member hasn’t released a full-length studio album since 2013’s Talk A Good Game. That album was underrated, with several missed opportunities for singles, including “Talk A Good Game”, “#1”, and “Put Yout Name On It”. The […]

The Tale of A Lonely Two

Yesterday, I heard a clip of an interview from the actress Nicole Ari Parker. For those of you who may not know, she is married to actor Boris Kodjoe. The couple has been married for 15 years. Fast forward back to this week, when Nicole stated how she misses the excitement of the single life. […]

Kayla Williams Makes Us Believers

The first time I heard Kayla Williams’s voice, she immediately piqued my interest. Although her genre is gospel, her velvety smooth rasp easily places her into neo-soul stylings. Her vocals bleed through the speakers with a delivery that makes you feel as if she’s singing to you personally. Kayla’s debut EP, I Believe, is appropriately […]

The Prickly Pear Pop (Boba) Life

A few weeks ago, I had lunch with some friends at Beto & Son in Dallas. It was my first time at the restaurant, but it was highly recommended. Plus, who doesn’t love some good Mexican food (or Tex-Mex)? I can make a meal out of chips and salsa alone. But I digress. Although this […]

The Weeknd: Open for ‘After Hours’

The backbone of The Weeknd’s musical formula lies somewhere between futuristic and 80s tinged pop. “Tryna be a better man, but I’m heartless”. This single line from “Heartless”, sums up the theme of his latest album, After Hours. The constant push and pull for the need of love and shunning its presence are sprinkled through […]

Love Isn’t Blind….We’re Just Blind to the Bull@#$!

Spoiler alert: If you plan on watching the Netflix series, Love Is Blind, but haven’t seen it yet, proceed with caution. First, I was suckered in by the influencer reality show, The Circle, on Netflix. Then came Love Is Blind. The premise of the show is several men and women get to potentially meet the […]

Mar1asol Serves Up Tasty Beats and Donuts

Mar1asol has a tough tenderness to her voice that immediately draws you in. Her angelic tone and confidence suggest she has several albums already under her belt. However, she just released her debut album, Beats and Donuts, last year. Her soulful singing style is sweet, but not in a gimmicky sort of way. Let’s take […]
