The (Turmeric) Sunrise On The Horizon
Many of you know that Nekter Juice Bar is one of my favorite places. I have posted several drink reviews from their various menu items. Now, let’s rewind back to last week. I was looking for something to knock out the last bit of a cold I had. I used to take turmeric pills on a consistent basis. I stopped at Nekter for lunch and noticed a sign about two new limited time drinks. One of those drinks was the Turmeric Sunrise. Ah ha! This was just what I needed.
So, I read the ingredients list to see what the Turmeric Sunrise consisted of. The smoothie had pineapples, mangoes, lime, coconut water, coconut butter and of course turmeric. The drink was being promoted as an aid to help boost your immune system and fight inflammation. Turmeric is wonderful for reducing inflammation if you didn’t already know. The Turmeric Sunrise did not disappoint.
I will warn you that turmeric does have a strong, somewhat spicy taste. The flavor is not as strong as ginger or kale, but you definitely know it’s there when you taste. I felt better very quickly after drinking this. My sinuses opened up and the pressure in my head began to subside. Plus, I stopped sneezing for the rest of the day. The drink does have a refreshing bite that is perfect for the spring or even a hot summer day. Basically, you need to try the Turmeric Sunrise before it gets discontinued. Your taste buds and your immune system will thank you.
