You’re Gonna Miss Me
Isn’t it funny how we often miss what has left us? Relationships, friendships and even job positions seem to have more meaning when they are no longer active in our lives. Why does this have to be though? Why does it take losing someone or something to appreciate its full worth? A friend and I were having a conversation about this very thing last week. I think we all have been in situations where we have had to show our worth to those around us. Sometimes we have to leave a job to prove a point of our worth. Relationships may have to be broken if we are being taken for granted.
The pain of moving forward and leaving comfortable situations behind can be unbearable. However, we have to do it. Sometimes we have to step out on faith to go to the next level. This requires unorthodox actions to truly get what we deserve. Here are 3 ways to know our worth may be diminished in the eyes of others.
Are You Too Nice?
This one hits home for me. Many people say I am a really nice person. For the most part, I am. However, there are times when being nice just doesn’t cut it. This is especially true when it comes to workplace situations. The jerks often get more respect. People already know their boundaries and act accordingly. Be yourself, but don’t be a doormat.
Are You Unprepared?
The early bird usually does get the worm. While this is applicable to job situations, it also counts in relationships. I always laugh to myself when I hear how desperate some people are to be in a relationship. Don’t get me wrong. Love is a beautiful thing. Some people are not even prepared to receive it though, let alone give it back.
Are You Getting Too Comfortable?
Comfort zones can be a dangerous thing. Many times, we stay with people and places because we tell ourselves we can do no better. This is the furthest thing from the truth. If it doesn’t grow you, it’s not for you!
